Philippe Briand 90 Metre Sailing Superyacht Concept SY 300

London based yacht designer Philippe Briand has unveiled his largest sail yacht design, the 90 metre SY 300.

At 1,500 tonne the ketch will have a 14 metre beam and will “outperform other sailing superyachts on the water,” says Philippe Briand.

The superyacht’s two masts and rigging will be constructed from carbon fibre and are planned to leave the deck as “uncluttered” as possible.

Everything about this design is big, a sail area measuring a total of 10,160 square metres, including an upwind sail area of 3,560 square metres and downwind sail area of 6,600 square metres. In good conditions, Briand estimates a top speed of 20 knots.

Interior layout can be designed to the clients wishes though initial plans show accommodation for 14 guests.

The luxury yacht will have a full beam owner’s suite on the main deck while the rest of the guest accommodation is on the lower deck. The yacht will sail with a crew of 17 (maximum).

There is a full beam on the lower deck, leading to an aft deck pool, spa, Jacuzzi and massage room. The main deck has a full beam saloon leading forward to a dining room on the port side and a space on the starboard side to be used as the owner wishes.
