greece-firewalkingThe Anastenaria firewalking festival occurs twice each year in southern Bulgaria and northern Greece. It is practiced by a group of Orthodox Christians on the feast days of Saint Constantine (May 21) and Saint Athanasius (January 18). The amazing festivals each last for three days, and many local and tourists hot foot it over to see the spectacle, (sorry couldn’t resist it).

The most famous Greek firewalking festival is held in Langadas close to the coastal town of Thessaloniki. More on Greece at the Greek Tourist Office
